Parents for Public Schools of Jackson is part of a national organzation of community-based chapters working to strengthen public schools through broad-based advocacy.  Driven by a diverse membership, our proactive involvement helps public schools attract all families in our community by making sure they serve all children.  We believe that quality public education is vital to our democracy and to the quality of life in our community - both now and in the future.

The results are in.  The facts are clear.  When parents are involved in their children’s education – regardless of family income, education level or ethnic background – children perform better and schools do, too.  For over a decade, Parents for Public Schools of Jackson has worked to elevate the role of parents in public school advocacy and reform. 

PPS challenges parents to serve as equal partners in the education of our children, raise district-wide performance standards, identify problems that impact student achievement, and help develop solutions.  We harness parent time and talents to deliver their unique and irreplaceable perspectives on public school issues.  We deliver parents, not just where educators want them, but where healthy school districts show they are needed – as proactive problem solvers and partners in decision-making.

But Parents for Public Schools is not just for parents of current public school students.  It is for all concerned citizens who believe that the health and future of our community, like all communities, is tied directly to the health of our public schools.  It is for people who care about the educational life of Jackson, MS and want to support an active organization working to promote and strengthen public schools.

Since public schools educate the majority of our children who will someday be our teachers, policemen, doctors, elected officials, and parents, the quality of public schools effects you – whether you have children in public schools or not.
